I wouldn't bother with upgrading to windows 7, your machine won't benefit from it that much tbh.

Stick with XP and SP3. My windows 7 uses 2gb of memory atm.

I ran Windows 7 Ultimate with 2GB RAM no problem?

I'm running Windows 7 professional now, that uses about 900-1200mb RAM while idle. (including all the stuff's on startup)

I wish the compression rule would apply even if you had more than 512mb RAM because if you install windows 7 on a machines with 512mb RAM it will compress itself to use 300mb :/

Technically 7 could use even less. Its because some of the availible ram is used for super fetch.
