Are you serious? Black ops does have dedicated servers, albeit only one company is allowed to provided servers, but still dedicated.

BC2 has dedicated servers as well on PC.

L4D2 can do dedicated servers and you can look it up on how to do so.

I am referring to Xbox and PS3. PC has dedicated servers, i am aware, as i am server admin on my black ops server and my BC2 server.

Xbox 360 and PS3 does not have dedicated servers on any game, except 1 or 2 which i forgot.

ah i see...

A long time ago there was Unreal Championship on the first xbox that allowed you to make your xbox a dedicated server!

That was cool, whatever happened to that? they went for high-ping matchmaking BS.

Lighting system is just one thing and having them dynamic should make it easier to develop for.

Yeah, I've seen that. it's not just the lighting (I used it as just one example) but Frostbite 2.0 also includes middle-ware, that is, engines and other resources that DICE licenses. I don't think Dice would want to spend 5-10 million for licensing the middleware to put out mod-tools.

Left 4 Dead 2 Xbox 360 dedicated servers update

Info on Left 4 Dead dedicated servers

Section 8 User created dedicated servers

Lord of the Rings Conquest servers shut down (along with alot of other games with dedicated servers/online services)

DICE on dedicated servers for all platforms

Australian dedicated server support for Homefront

Gears of War 3 will also have dedicated servers

Funnily enough I cant find info on the Rainbow 6 Vegas 1 or 2 dedicated servers but I know that they are there. You create them yourself by making your Xbox 360 the server (ie: you cannot join in). I know this from first hand experience having used them for clan matches back when I used to play Rainbow 6 Vegas on the Xbox 360 competitively.

Sure you might get more on PC, with even the ability to create them even if the developer doesn't support them. But to say that consoles have none entirely over several platforms "bar one or two games" is misleading.

Then there's also the MMOs on consoles aswell like Phantasy Star, Final Fantasy XI, DC Universe, etc which require them to function properly.

Shadowrun also used to run on dedicated servers.

There's probably quite a few more, some discontinued, some still running.

I'll give you Black Ops. I thought that was dedicated on consoles too, I was (after some research) wrong.
