How? You goto the store and take a sample of cheese from the cheese counter. You don't like it so you don't buy any. You can take as many samples as you want but you still don't want to buy the cheese. Is the cheese company hurt? You come back the next day with a friend for some beer. You walk by the cheese counter again. You friend trys some and likes it. He buys a pound of it. You just got that company a sale. They didn't lose your sale cause they never had the sale.

Same thing with test driving a car. Using your coupon for 2 free sodas at McDonalds. This is really not a hard concept.

You can claim piracy kills PC games. Do some googleling. You'll be surprised at the amount of Piracy on consoles too.

Lets also take a look at minecraft. There is NO drm on that. Millions of people own it. You don't see Notch taking individuals to court cause they pirated his game

I "tried" the new splinter cell, never liked it. Spent like 20 mins playing it and uninstalled it. I was glad I did not spend my money on it. For BFBC2 I did the same, I love the single player so much that it made me wonder how good the multiplayer was, so I bought it. I enjoyed it a lot! Same with the newest spiderman game, never caught my interest. Those are my reasons really. I never play more than an hour on a game, I just test em out see if they fit my style.

Exactly. 1 download != 1 lost sale. A person may download the game and never bother to play it, he might not like the game enough to buy it, he might not have the money to buy the game, in the end he might simply borrow the game from a friend.

How do hackers even pirate the game to begin with? I mean for single player games..

In some cases it seems like the pirated version comes before the release date of the game? I don't mean to advocate or support piracy here, I'm just trying to get an understanding of how it all works.

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

Who knows, maybe they work somewhere they have access to the game earlier that others. That is just my guess.

That would be my guess too for earlier versions. The finally version is obtained by someone I would imagine and then they crack the drm and release the game through various sites.

Stores get their copies 1-2 weeks early. Slip your boss a 20 and you'll get it early.

I disagree in computer games. For the most part, people that are playing games with their computers have internet. The last figure I saw was 15% of Americans do not have internet(i know figures are different overseas.) Realistically the reason being they just don't care for technology.

If developers truly want to fix piracy then making internet connection needed is the only real way.

Because, without a online verification of access codes, the access code file would have to be put in the game folder on the game it self, you could see where that could go HORRIBLY wrong
