You guys actually bring up a valid point. I think the lesser overall performance of the Intel 510 vs. the vertex 3 will be not as visible as compared to if the vertex 3 eats **** and dies two months from now when the Intel 510 is still alive and kicking 2 years from now.

Also, the fact that if I wanted to I could order the Intel 510 120GB right now and not have to wait for OCZ to get their act together and have enough for the demand. I just hope that $320 price tag turns into a sub $300 price tag when I actually get my lappy. Would be nice to save some money.

Well you haven't heard them from me -_-. It's been a nightmare getting TRIM working.

I haven't heard much about Crucial I know that the newer ones are horrible performance yield. But also heard that the support for it is not as good as Intel, whom I believe create the best firmware for their SSDs.

You get what you pay for in SSDs I suppose.

**EDIT:**

Okay so I saw today 5/1 that the Intel 510 Elm Crest 120GB for $270 for my new M11X R3, or should I just say screw it and wait for maybe better performance/capacity yields with the release of Intel 520 SSD which I just saw is coming out Q3 2011, not very far off.

Hi guys,

Sorry to report my Corsair F120 failed after 2 months with no warning. Even the BIOS would not recognise it. All data was lost with no hope of recovery.

From subsequent reading on the web it appears SSDs are not really reliable:
http://www.pcworld.com/businesscente...rvey_says.html

Is high performance worth unreliability?:
http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/201...ive-scale.html

Stats on reliability from France (hint, go Intel SSDs):
http://translate.google.com/translat...rimer%2F831%2F

I'm debating whether I really want a replacement F120 or should I just pay extra and get an Intel drive and be done with it...

Regards,
Michael.

When it comes to the SSD market, Intel has their stuff down. However, I just bought a Mushkin SSD because I am brand loyal to them, and love them with all my heart .
