cheapest budget gamer! - Page 4

I have seen 640s very often maxing out at only 3.5Ghz... in fact my friend's maxed out at 3.5Ghz
The 840 is usually binned slightly better; the 820 is a C2 revision, I'd hold your horses on hoping it'll hit 3.8Ghz, and in addition I don't believe Newegg sells that anymore
If you have a bit of extra cash and want to hit 3.8 for sure, the Phenom II x4 925 might be a good choice, full C3 Deneb die at 2.8Ghz and with 95W TDP, OC-ing would be no different from 1055T - just have mobo with good ref clock capability and 1600Mhz RAM and good to go

I've seen quite a few instances of issues with that A-Data RAM on an AMD platform, at least 5 times by now. That's why I don't recommend it anymore. The Team kit should work well, it is actually known to work on AMD very well and OC well too.

ya the 925 is a good call, especially for only $5 more than a 840. For ram I'm definitely going with corsair or kingston
