I agree, 1 of the games I was glad I bought the book for was American Mc'Gees alice. There are places and puzzles that are difficult without one. Most games I try to muddle thru but also nice to have a referance for what to look for.

You need a walkthrough for a 100% linear game?

I wouldn't say it was cheating, in fact I'd like to meet the person who claims to have beaten the Water Temple in Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time without a walk-through and slap them in the face for being a liar.

It isn't 100% linear.
After a certain point you can go anywhere in the world.

Call of Duty series are 100% linear...

MMO, Pokemon ect. I say walk thrus are fine. But for other games such as some suggested above, GTA, portal, cod, It would be a huge spolier and wouldn't get as much satisfaction upon completing it.

i use them all the time, they are a must for rpgs and sometimes for linear games when you are stuck and don´t know what to do (just now i am stuck in bulletstorm, yes i know the game is linear but i am juststuck no matter what i do in this annoying part)

Honestly, who cares? It's your game and it's single player. What you use, and whether it enhances or ruins your enjoyment is completely up to you. The only people who would complain and bash you for it are those who have problems with their appendage sizes.

Heck, using a cheat that would allow you to save anywhere instead of relying on checkpoints is also GREATLY encouraged by me. Some of us don't want to replay 30 minutes of gameplay just to be tossed back to the last checkpoint (though I forgot the last game I had to do this in; I know it was some weird scifi shooter using the Unreal 2 engine, and it started with your squad crash landing on a planet...got so frustrated on one level that I used the cheat that let me bypass the checkpoint saving till that level was over....)
