The latest from Intel Roadmap shows

Sandy Bridge-E will offer three versions of the first

Two of which six core products
3.3GHz, 15M Cache
3.2GHz, 12M Cache

A four core products
3.6GHz, 10M Cache

So the six core products are basically tweaked Gulftown with more cache and are just as unaffordable
Cool story b--

WOW THE 4 CORE VERSION IS "LIMITED UNLOCKED"
What use is an "Extreme" platform if you can't OC on it either

Say goodbye to affordable (these will all be at first extreme edition so don't even think about saying goodbye to >$800 processor price tags) and overclockable Intel high end platforms everybody... sadly the 4 core was probably going to be the one everybody would buy/be the most affordable... oh wait

Sorry guys but I think I can only lol further at Intel's sillyness, I wasn't expecting it to look this bad.... where are the 8 core/16 thread products!?

I fail to see where the article says it's just a tweaked Gulftown when the codename is Sandy Bridge-EX, implying it's an SB tweak...

It was rather well known that intel won't have 8 core consumer level cpus till ivy bridge. Secondly how are the modified gulftowns? It's a different architecture and more cache. Lastly you do realize your precious AMD had $1,000 cpus when they could compete at the highest end right?

I'm more inclined to complain on the fact that this is supposed to be an extreme platform.
Affordability, yeah, fine, throw that out the Window... but we should be getting the whole enchilada. FULL overclocking across all the processors, new features, perhaps even a small price improvement... that is not the case. I am not paying near $1000 for a processor that does not fully overclock. And yeah, sure, this is SB, a supposedly brand new architecture but was it ever really that big an improvement over Nehalem? Except maybe for the overclockability, many people say no. Think of it: Gulftown was 6 cores at 32nm. This is also 6 cores at 32nm. Big difference? I don't see how, perhaps except overclockability

True enough, I wasn't trying to imply intels EE cpus were better than the old fx series as we all know AMD was destroying intel back then.

I want to see you eat your shorts when the only reason they say it's limited unlocked is because it can only hit say 60x multiplier. Instead of 65x on the 6 cores. In case you didn't notice there is an asterisk next to the "Limited Unlock", meaning that there is more to what meets the eye and that this hack a** Chinese website couldn't bother to get what the asterisk meant.

AMD owners are so close minded when it comes to word about something that will beat their Tonka trucks.

I completely agree it's stupidly overpriced but so has every EE cpu before it. I'm only arguing over the fact that it clearly isn't a modified gulftown. That's like saying the original i5's were only a slight modification of a 9550 core 2 quad because they both are 45nm.
