Is there a benefit?

Hey everyone,

I just picked up the MSI GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II/OC card and was wondering what to do with my old ATI HD 5670?

I'm not a big gamer but wanted to utilize nVidia's CUDA cores with Adobe CS5 suite.

My question is can I run both cards together (I understand i can't use SLI) and will I see any benefits considering my primary purpose is video graphic editing?

I have an i7 930 running win 7 64.

Thanks in advance!

Maybe you should have a mother board with Lucid Hydra technique, if not, I'm not sure if it can work together, in my opinion it can't.

actually some always get a high-end AMD card with a lower-end NV card to run Physx, 560 Ti is much better than 5670, maybe you just have to run it alone.

You can use both of them for example to run multiple monitors, but the 5670 won't help in CS5 (much). It's quite a misconception that only CUDA can accelerate CS4/5, AMD4s Stream can also do it; however you already have a 560Ti that is far more powerful than the 5670, so it's not worth it for this purpose.

So I guess my best bet is to get another 560 ti (super cheap under $250) and run it sli.

Thanks for the help...very cool site!

You're welcome

...as a side note - you should check if CS5 "knows" SLI. I'm not sure how it is now, but a few months ago I was reading that CUDA wasn't able to pass commands thru SLI.

You could put it in there. And run folding@home on it. It wouldn't impact any performance at all. In fact you would never no it was there.
