when you have the cpu stable, then play with the ram.
in my bios, i just had the ratios eg. 1:1, 3:5 etc...
if your ram is rated at 667mhz, then in the bios it may say 333mhz (as its ddr2 ram)
for you to be on a 1:1 ratio, you would need your ram at 333 and FSB at 333
but this would only be 2997 or 3.0ghz.
imo the fsb/ram ratio is not important, as you want to get the ram at the highest speed you can.
in your bios, their should be an option to run the ram at 400mhz, just try that. so your ratio will be 6:5
also you may have to raise the ram voltage by 0.1v
my ram stock speed is 800mhz (400 x 2) and the voltage is 1.8v
i got it to 990mhz (495 x 2) and is now at 1.9v

here is a pic of my cpu-z settings
memorybenchmark.png

also some fsb/ram ratios

fsbstraptonorthbridge.png

Thank you so much for your help J.Col! I've finally managed to get it to 3.4Ghz!

Next I will try 3.6. But It does look like I have to tone back my RAM to a 1:1. I tried the previous 4:5 timings (5-7-7-21) and even with 1.9v DRAM, it didn't POST. So it looks like I have to dial back my ram if I want a higher CPU speed.

3.6 is at 400FSB, 1:1 will be just fine. Should be cake on your board.

this^^
BUT the cpu-z pic your ram is 378mhz, what is your ram speed?
is it 667mhz or 800mhz. cpu-z will show you this.
if its 667mhz you have overclocked the ram already, as 378 x 2= 756mhz. so unlink the ram.
if its 800mhz then increasing the FSB to 400 and keeping the ram linked, will have the ram also running at 400mhz.
that cpu-z pic says 5300 after the ram. this is 667mhz ram

as 2thAche said, leaving the ram at 1:1, and getting the FSB to 400, will have the ram also at 400mhz.

glad i helped smile.gif

edit. just realised you have 4 sticks of ram. you will also have to raise the North bridge (NB) voltage a couple of notches as well.
its harder to overclock 4 sticks of ram than 2 sticks

I can get my Q8300 to 3.4GHz but it'll run hot, so if you have a decent cooling system then yes

Yes, I'm quite positive my ram is 667mhz. I shall try to reach 3.6Ghz at current RAM overclock. If not, I'll set it back to 1:1 and try again.

Happy Easter guys! And thanks a lot! I worked all day.... /sigh =[
