How does this rig look?

Thread Starter

Is there anything i can skimp out on? Not main features like mobo, cpu,ram or gpu, but do i need such an "expensive" psu? It has 4x pci-e connectors, which i would need for SLI'ing, but could i skimp out and get a psu with 2 and just use molax to pci-e adapters? Also, I didn't know what to look for in a case but i heard cool master haf are good, is that one alright? Also, how is the cooling ? Is the h50 sufficient? One more thing, is 750w good enough to power all this and eventually a second 570? Note: My monitor is only capable of 1440x900 so..is gtx 570 overkill having nearly 1.3gb of ram and all...but i will eventually upgrade the monitor I'm just not sure when.

looks good but the h50 and the gtx 570 are going to be a tight fit in that case.. without removing the drive bay the case has 10.6in for a graphics card. a bigger HAF case such as the 922 might be better

Not really sure about the HAF 912 but I know my old HAF 922 fit a GTX 470 no problem. The H50 should be no problem but you may want to look up a review on the 912 and see what size GPUs it can fit.

Stick with the 912 it can fit 480's with the cage in. And for some reason it doesnt you can take the cage out.

Here is a review with a pic of the interior with a GPU in it. I'm not sure what GPU it is but based on the looks it should fit a 570 without having to remove the cage.

Well that case only has two 120mm fans, is that lacking too much? I was looking at this, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-160-_-Product
is that overkill? Not sure if i'm willing to drop that much on a case though

Note: also i've replaced the biostar mobo with the ASUS P8P67-M PRO, just didn't bother to update the pic

There's like 5 different newegg reviews of the HAF 912, where people list their GTX 480s and 570s fitting. So, there will be no clearance issues.

updated the pic, now how's it look? Also, could someone answer if 750w is enough for adding a second 570 eventually? Or if i'm buying a too extravagent psu?

The rig that is up now looks perfect. That 750 watt is perfect for SLI 570s.

Oh phew i was sweatin for a second. I used newegg's psu calculator and putting everything in came out to over 800w, but i'm not sure how accurate it is and it's not updated with the 1155 socket so i just chose 1156..prob not the best idea.

edit: Also, i kind of want to switch to mushkin 4gb cas 7 that i see you have as well. Is there a noticeable difference between cas 9 and 7?
