Another thing is fps games are far better on a decent mouse and keyboard.

yeah you have to factor in that you have a computer already, add the cost of the computer you have to the console and you have yourself a (probably) good system.

As well as this I just love my computer and wouldn't pickup consoles unless it's for really epic title-exclusives like god of war or Demon's Souls (and devil may cry was just impossible on the computer so I swapped it back for a console version). And honestly I couldn't see these 2 games working on a pc.

So personally I love some of the games on consoles, but I spend a lot more of my time on the pc and there is nothing wrong with living in both worlds, and really, you should.

They both have their benefits. Cost-wise, a pc is upgradeable so for that upfront cost you have a piece of equipment that can be upgraded piecewise to your needs. Which is more a benefit considering customization anyways. People say PC gaming is dying, it'll make a comeback though.

one more thing. You can make your PC act like a console, but can't make a console act like a computer. What I mean is, if u like playing with a controller, then u can buy a controller for your PC. So you need less then 50$ to turn your pc into a console.
Someone stated that if u play with friends at home a console would be better. I have to disagree (no offense). I like playing NBA with friends, so we often go to each other and play, on the computer, with controllers.
My PC can do everything I want apart from sandwiches. Why would I need a console?

2 things.

1. Customizable
2. Freedom of configuration.

Those two things are not something you will find in a console setup. As stated if you want the same kind of gaming experience as a PC you also have to fork out for a HDTV for your Xbox, maybe a monitor if going the 720p route and that will add to the cost.

It all depends what you want but PC does give you MUCH more freedom than a console. Also not to mention you have to pay LIVE fee's with Xbox and Multi player is free on PC. so that is already a saving of what, £30 a year. +

What bothers me is console gamers bash PC gaming because it's too expensive, then buy a $300 PC from Best Buy or whatever crappy shop that sells pre-built PCs just to browse Facebook then they complain about how PC gaming is too expensive. ಠ_ಠ

you could have bought her $300 pc with quad core and 9800 gtx that would be just slightly better than crapsole, no one forced you to buy the i5 cpu + gtx570.

Well I kind of used that as an example to say that that rig isn't even the best out there and yet it costs so much versus a console where each one is the same at a much lower price.

If the only reason I owned a pc was to game then I would be a fool with too much money.

Gaming
Music
Video
Photo editing
browsing the web
A little 3d modeling (pretty crap at this at the moment)

just off the top of my head, probably do loads more without realizing it.

And when it starts to get outdated I can upgrade.

And you all forget the one big point.
I have friends, and they come over, and we have a mad as game on splitscreen on my 55 inch tv with surround sound! Woohoo, 4 kids with music up loud around the playstation having a ball! Can't do that on pc can we now? I don't care if the game doesn't look absolutely stunning, I don't really care if I encounter little kids online THATS WHAT THE MUTE BUTTON IS FOR. I enjoy relaxing on my couch with my controller in my hand, guitar on my side *for loading screen* and my mates chilling having a ball.
And that is my friends, why I chose console.
