Why play games on PC over console? - Page 4

I enjoy gaming far more on my PS3 then I do on my PC. Having a keyboard and mouse keeps you uptight and you can't relax. With my PS3 I can get the controller and lay back on my couch and relax. I've been a console gamer most my life (I have had a PS, 2 PS2's and currently a PS3) and I never see myself switching. The only PC games I play are Oblivion, The Sims, Need for Speed, Minecraft etc.

Better graphics, better controllers, mods, dedicated servers, PC can do more than just game.

Plenty of good points have been brought up already in here in favor of pc gaming. Personally I like both (in slight favor of pc gaming), but it does annoy me when my console gaming friends question the advantages of even gaming on the pc at all. They just really never understand.
I spend a lot of my time on pc anyway, and I sort of feel at home on it. I also needed a new computer after high school, and didn't have a next gen console at the time, so I chose to build a PC. As far as cost goes, it's understandable that some console people may already have PC's (family or otherwise) and it would be expensive to overhaul, or they primarily use a laptop. Otherwise, if going for a new desktop pc and a new gaming platform, there really is no argument against just building a gaming desktop, at least economically.
It's been said already, but the pc is all about freedom, and that's really what I love about it more than anything else. I enjoy the flexibility of the controls, the mods, full control over what your game looks like/how it plays. It's really fun in itself. Dedicated servers are a huge plus for online multiplayer, and being able to choose where you play without having to have a player on your friend's list is nice. PC gaming communities also tend to be either more helpful, or just more dedicated in general which is a whole different thing altogether.

On the other side, sometimes it's nice to just sit back on the couch and play something on the console. Console gaming also has a variety of games that don't ever make it to pc, so if you like those games then you would obviously rather have the appropriate platform.

Both are good, it just depends on your own needs.
I guess I game primarily on PC because of all the things I mentioned that I enjoy above, but also because I like to tinker on things and the PC is great for that!

C'mon.. there a great budget built rig (DIY), and or prebuilt PC (such as Compaq, eMachine, Dell, Hp, Asus) cost $300 -400. budget built rig and prebuilt PC running all the hi-end games (for example, Crysis 2) which proves that you don't even need to spend $1100 to get a great budget gaming PC.

My friend bought the crappy prebuilt PC (Dell), he still playing the high-ended games on his prebuilt PC since 2008.

PS3's are also for people who aren't capable of building a computer or just want the convenience of buying a console. Plug in power, HDMI into TV, turn it on and done, no issues.

Why would a consumer choose that over, say a playstation 3 for $300? I'd just like to see how some of you feel about this.
You only need about $600-$700 rig to play high-max settings on games at 1080p. You could probably go cheaper than that if you find some good deals, which Newegg and Tigerdirect always have.

Also, remember the PS3 was $600 retail price. I feel sorry for people who bought it at that price.

TV + sound system + pc tower = more than console

This rig can be, $300 for all that? Wow.. if only I was on

You have $200 for a Video card.

Now you can max about anything @ 1080p.
