Why play games on PC over console? - Page 5

post #41 of 225
I think they both have a time and place. I perfer keyboard and mouse set up for gaming, Controllers limit the user...they have less buttons to press, and I like the "faceroll". I also agree that by the time you get the console,tv,sound system,and the game's you'll be out about the same price for a decent computer. Console's offer one advantage to a PC...its very easy for "special" peeps you use...you "special" people know how you are....yea, you who blast horible music over XBox live chat in game...lol...so the last part is kind of a rant about how most console user's tend to be younger...

I did. It is a console, it sucked, why put money into the rest of it?

LET ME POINT OUT THAT IT INVOLVES THE THRILL OF THE BUILD. We PC gamers arent only looking to get more graphics potential out of our games, the main reason why we are PC gamers, is first of all, WE LOVE PCs! When there is something you like doing (hobby) you do it because thats your high. Not because you just want to out-do something else, you do it because you LOVE it. We get to build a hand-crafted machine, of out OUR own making. We get to watch it start up for the first time, and that "post-beep" we hear when the computer is first starting is like no other feeling when you see a machine you hand-crafted take its first steps, consider the rich history behind PCs starting with DOS on up to windows 3.1, we are witnesses to a computer revolution and innovation and so on, we cant just switch to consoles and abandon our niche, and don't get me started on the art of Overclocking, something you can't do with a console. So please don't reduce us to just Graphics Hungry PC Gamers. We are a much more than that, we are a craft, respect that.

There's really a lot of factors you have to weigh up to have a fair comparison.. some people will always go for consoles, some people will always go for PC.. you really can't compare them both, they're completely different.

Well lets take it the other way around. Consoles are basically DX9. U can get a decent setup that will smoke consoles.
Example: ME . my sig rig u cant go cheaper .
Tried my rig on my firnds hdd on his 1080 moniter. All games are maxxed (quality wise) and alot of games i cant up the aa to 4x. Metro gave me a hard time also crysis and WH runs great with no AA.
So you have better quality, image wise, and not shedding the "PAY 2000$ for a rig".

Considering most people have a PC already its not the whole cost of the thing that matters, only the difference in price between a gaming PC and a typical PC and in most cases that just means a video card and maybe some ram need to be added, therefore making the cost of a gaming PC is probably about even or less than the cost of a console in most cases. The real value of a gaming PC is that you already have a PC anyway so why not game on it? A console is something extra that no one would own if not just to play games on.

The reason why some people play games on PC over console is because it's a lot easier to play using a keyboard and mouse (some times) and when it's not you can just get a controller (I use PS3 controller some times) and most steering wheels and other similar controllers will work on PC where as some steering wheels and hardly any other controllers don't work on consoles.

lol I got a PS3 for two reasons the 1st is that overall it would be cheaper for me seeing as I already have a TV (lol its also my PC monitor FAIL) that and GT5 isn't on PC, and most of the people I know have a PS3. I still need some money to get surround sound and that's quite hard seeing as I don't have a job at the moment

I used to sell them and looooooooooads of people would buy them as a Blu-Ray and Streaming device. Gaming was an afterthought!

Mods = Agreed
better control scheme = Depends. Try playing a racing game with a keyboard
easier to patch bugs = Because more bugs exist on the PC platform
better res and display quality = Not really. Most people use 1080p which is replicated on console. Although sometimes upscaled and AA sucks
backups = Agreed
steam = That'll come to consoles, don't doubt it!
