Simple 3D SLI question please

Thread Starter
First, when running 3D movies does an SLI configuration improve the quality or performance of playback? Or is it only utilizing one card and doesn't matter?

The second I'm pretty sure on the answer but I'll ask it anyway.

In games that have SLI enabled - In 3D gaming does SLI configuration improve performance?

When gaming I'll assume that since running two cards in SLI give higher FPS I'll see a difference in 3D gaming performance as well.

Thanks in advance for any response. Love to hear from those already using 3D and their experience.

Playing movies doesn't benefit from the GPU unless using a special player. SLI won't matter there one bit.

And 3D doesn't see the SLI.
The game just needs to reach the 120fps in order to play well in 3D.
If the game benefit from SLI, it will also give benefit to the 3D gaming experience.
So short answer: yes.

Yeah, you won't get any improvement for video playback, it should already be as good as it can.

As for 3D gaming, you'll get a nice performance boost from SLI, yeah

Thanks guys for that confirmation. I kind of knew, just wanted to re-verify. I'm getting glasses real shortly and haven't run my own tests yet. Didn't know if I needed a second card to SLI before getting the glasses.

I'm going to try one card first in 3D gaming and see if there is any issues or if my FPS are too low and if I would need a second card. I'm waiting out till keplar in hopes the price of the GTX 580 drops a bit or I can pick up one being sold from someone else wanting to switch for a lot less.
