Tablets have to have big bezels in order to provide a place where you can hold it without touching the screen. The transformer is extra wide on the side to accomodate the keyboard length.

I myself am starting to look into tablets as a new toy
I thought the Asus was gonna be a winner for me. But after seeing videos on how the video capture is, im leaning away from it. I also dont like how they use their own "special" connector to charge it (not sure about micro usb). I like the form factor.
I also looked at the a500. I love how it has usb 2.0, micro usb, and sdcard reader. But dont like the wide footprint or how its now and IPS screen.

I'll wait longer till Android 3.0 is developed more and see what tablets can be rooted and supported for good Roms. Maybe custom ROMS will fix a lot of bugs and kinks in honeycomb and make these android tablets shine

This will become quite common in the majority of tablets due to the greater power usage compared to phones where micro-usb has become the standard (except apple). Most usb ports are limited to providing only 0.5A and at that rate it would take many hours to fully charge which is where proprietary connectors come in to provide the sufficient juice.

I don't think anyone will "seriously" substitute their point and shoot for a tablet and that said, video capture will be fixed with a firmware update. The ASUS has proprietary as do all tablets because it would take AGES. for the battery to charge over micro USB!!
Not sure but you Do or DO NOT LIKE it for it being an IPS panel? Because it just adds to a factor of awesome to the already amazing tablet, I bet it's modeled after ASUS's own art pro monitors. an owner of the iPhone 4 and Dell u2311h, I just can't see myself not using an IPS panel on my tablet.

Currently there are two roms on XDA but they aren't that great, but you're right they will get better.

You should really double check not buying a transformer because believe me it will be a great device.

Or you could wait for my review ;D

I like the Asus because of its IPS display. I didnt like the A500 because it wasnt IPS.
To me, honestly I would think micro-usb would be able to charge over night. Which I believe most people will do anyways. How about standard usb- that provides more power and no doubt already abundant to everyone. I know a tablet wont replace a point and shoot, but it is nice to have an all-in-one device- who carries their point and shoot everywhere? Sure I have my Evo 4g, but I think Im wanting to replace my netbook of 1.5years

I just wished the Asus had the usb 2.0 like the Acer. Be nice to use a logitech nano receiver for less bulk
I'll wait for your review. Ive read and watched as much as I can on these tablets and both have their pros and cons.

Am I the only one, but couldnt they make the bezels a little smaller? -__- But im giving the manufactures the benefit of the doubt as they may need the extra space for the hardware.

review of the iconia vs the transformer

Personally, if you don't plan on buying the Dock, get the Iconia, but the dock gives you 2 usb as well, extra battery, is pretty light, and an SD card reader.

yeah I know what you mean of the point and shoot, but looking at the AD asus put with the video, with a future firmware update fixing the video issue, You should be fine with it. And yeah, the bezel could sure as hell be smaller.

Hey you guys give me an idea, let me update the OP.

Read that review already LOL. Yah.. I do like the fact that the asus keyboard/dock has the battery and charges the tablet essentially and it being able to fold up into a netbook size. Which would be nice to put in a little sleeve case versus the Acer having to be separate. Its a tough call. I suppose I will buy whichever one supports the better ROMS/updates.

Edit: My question would be, if it hasnt been answered on another forum is: Are you able to use a micro-usb to usb for say a usb stick or hard drive? Secondly, pictures and things of the tablet used outside (glare/brightness). Also if you could show some different settings. I noticed that videos dont show this

You may have to wait awhile, depends on when XDA gets around to buying tablets enmasse besides the Gtab.
