well i'm having a few issues with this motherboard at the moment.

i just bought it, it's a gigabyte GA-870A-UD3, rev 2.1. i got it to make a computer for my mother and at the same time, swap over some of my stuff into her new computer and get new stuff for mine.

one of the changes was taking out my gigabyte 5830 vid card and putting it in to her computer while i get a 6950.

anyway, when the 5830 is plugged in to her computer, the screen wont come on. no matter how many times i take it out and put it back in, nothing changes.

i put my 6950 into her computer and the screen works.

i put the 5830 in to my computer (i have a GA-890fx-ud5 rev 2.0 board) and it works fine.

does anyone know what could be the problem? it doesnt appear as if the 5830 is faulty - i've been using it for a fair while and it still works on my computer. i'm not totally convinced it's the MB either - my 6950 works on it fine.

any suggestions? i'm kinda lost for answers. the only thing i can think of is putting in a new bios and hope that helps, however i dont know what version bios is on the board - i forgot to check lol

everything is latest bios - that's why i'm so confused. a friend thought it might have been because of different PCIe versions, but surely not. the MB's both say 2.0 on them, however the cards are 2.1, well support 2.1. i'm sure that's not the problem otherwise i'd have problems with the 5830 in my 890fx-ud5 and problems with the 6950 in the 870a-ud3.

i've raised a ticket with gigabyte so i'll see what they have to say

well it looks as if, from further google searching, that this is a bit of an issue with this MB, however i couldnt find anyone saying they could get 1 vid card to work and 1 not to work, even though both cards are fine. i'm going to try clearing the cmos and try putting the computer together on a bench with cardboard underneath just incase there is a shorting issue. will also hook up a speaker and see if i get any beeps.

any other suggestions?

thermaltake litepower 600w - http://www.thermaltake.com.au/Produc...power600W.aspx - been using it on my other pc for about 1.5 years. but i'm certain it is fine anyway - as i've said, my 6950 card allows the computer to work, just not the 5830 (well the computer works, just not the monitor)
