finally made a decision

sort of accidentally bought an 1156 mobo last night

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-599-_-Product

So I guess I'm taking a drive to mc to pick up an i7 870 tonight?

was this a foolish decision? (roughly 350 bucks board and cpu)

I needed something cheapish for cad with 6 or more threads so it was either i7 or amd x6

I dont know much about the i7 870 i read some reviews on the board though which all seemed pretty excited

Uh yeah, not a good decision, you can grab an i5 2500k for $170 or even 2600k if you need hyper-threading at microcenter and get a decent board there as well, everything under $350 and it will rock the socks off an i7 860. Return the board and let them know you ordered the wrong one.

Just make sure to get a P67 board so that you can overclock

lol ouchkabibbles

Edit: I know 2500ks are cheap and 2600's aren't too much more.

But I don't feel like spending money on the board I would want.

Plus in my defense it was a pure impulse buy.

Can probably still get around 4 GHz and hopefully with my H50

since my water block doesn't have 1156 brackets
