I wonder if someone could post pictures here if it is out 2 weeks early,or does that break some sort of rule?

i wonder what features have been cut out for it to work in AM3?
Most likely Cool & quiet, and turbo core, and perhaps other special features BD has that AM3 does not support.

Not to mention that going from Phenom to BD is a much bigger change then we have seen in nearly 10 years from AMD.

Why is everyone sticking their heads in the sand?

Anyone buying an FX cpu surly wants AMD to advance in performance. Do you wan't a performance upgrade or not?

First of all I have to ask you why you're sticking your head in the sand. Is there something wrong with people not wanting to spend money TWICE on the MoBo in less than 2 years? If you have the money, la dee da hooray for you. Some of us DON'T have the money but are interested in moving into a better CPU. If AM3+ can be used on a fairly new board what do you care? You're going to be upgrading your board and CPU.

Personally I'm going to upgrade as I can afford it. And I know that I'm not the only one that feels this way. If my board can run AM3+ and I lose some features as a result of my "sticking my head in the sand", then I'm good with it. I'll upgrade the Board when the new enthusiast board drops and not a moment sooner.

And what, I can't get along with Family and help my Mother get into a better case? I'm 42, my family lives in the same area I do. My apologies if that offends your judgmental nature.

No, it's not the subject. It's the draconian way people approach either side when people don't agree with them. That's what's got my feathers ruffled as it were.

Suggesting my head is in the sand because how I plan to upgrade is more than a little annoying. And also the work that the three MoBo manufacturers put in, deserves to be used imho. They did that for people like me, who don't have a lot of money to spend. I belong to the level of consumer that would severely impact the market if we were discouraged.

Imagine if all us broke asses just said screw it and stopped buying. Prices go up to reflect that instead of coming down to be more affordable. IMHO the only people that want that are the elitists who could pull a thousand bucks out of their rear end at any time of the day.

THIS.

when i discovered that my BIOSTAR TA790GX 128M didnt support SLi (board wont detect nvidia cards in slave slot) and couldt unlock my CPU, i had to upgrade (it was on its last leg anyway :/)

took me months of not eating lunch at school to save up for the CHIV. i do NOT want to do that again for BD AND a CHV!
unless i get a job, its not happening. i'll be perfectly happy with the huge performance boost i'd still get with 6/8 core BD CPU in mah rig.

PMSL!

Some amusing posts above...

How anyone can deduce my fiscal situation by my inquiry into peoples motherboard choice is beyond my comprehension, I must be missing something?

If I was buying Bulldozer, then yes, I would need a new board. But as i've said in other threads, I don't intend to buy the first release of BD - if at all. I'm quite happy with my Thuban. If it was amazing, and I mean amazing, I may be persuaded to buy BD.

The fact that I would need a new board is because i'm using an AM2+ board, with DDR2 ram... running an AM3 chip, ring any bells? That's right, I'm using an older board with a bios update to run a newer cpu, which is what you're proposing.

I've said it already, my Thuban doesn't work properly in my "Asus, on the 6 core approved board, list". This is why i'd favor an AM3+ board for BD if I had an AM3. Though now you're saying you'll get an enthusiast board later, fair enough.

42 eh? the answer to life, the universe and everything...

...who'd've thought it..

But you haven't stated any of that here. You said that anyone wanting to run BD on an AM3 board is sticking their head in the sand. This turned it in to a "phiscal issue" because that's the reason that I'm giving in my situation. I can only afford so much and if I can run BD on my AM3 board then I can hold off buying a new MoBo until what I want launches.

Doing it this way also lets me familiarize myself with BD.

I never claim to know everything, so you know what you can do with your attiturd. I'm not taking issue with your opinion only in how you apply it.

I haven't even gone that far, but I can tell you this for a fact, my board is AM2+ and it was on an original list of mobos that Asus said would support/run Thuban. Yet it doesn't run properly, fsb overclocking is impossible, so no ram overclock either, and when it was first released all the multipliers were out by 500Mhz!

You may just find that there's more to go wrong with compatability than you think, things which as an overclocker would affect you. It may run fine, but don't state facts that are pure speculation.
I explained my board situation and issues with asus compatability a few pages ago, obviously you didn't read it.

As with so many users on here it's a bit pointless having a discussion with someone who isn't going to read what you've written, and instead they just read what ever bits suit them, and don't actually take in anything you've written.

It's common courtesy, and shows ineptitude and ignorance.

BTW, do you know what "fiscal" means?

God bless his soul, a man that earned the sweat of his brow. Also rewarded himself appropriately.

I bet it's a nice desk, hand made stuff usually is.

Mainly the term is used to refer to Government finance:

"Fiscal deficit" deficit of the Government

"Fiscal Policy" As I'm aware, is the spending to push the countries in question economic development

Also "Fiscal year" reporting period for large industries and agencies, also can be done per quarter. Does that suffice?

I think that's it, it's been a while.
