[BBC]How close were the Terminator films to the reality of 2011?

Please move if not news, but I think this is somewhat relevant to technology.

Artificial intelligence clearly has not developed in quite the way James Cameron's science-fiction franchise predicted, but how close are we to the technologies he depicted?

"And the machines taking over? With everybody going through their lives bent over their BlackBerrys all day long, you could even argue the machines have already won."

The part about people on blackberries means that the machines have won is somewhat disturbing.

Now I'm wondering if I should go to my programming lab today......if I don't go, I won't create the artificial intelligence that takes over, and then fail my lab because I didn't do it. If I do go, I'll create the AI which then destroys the world, making my grade in my programming class irrelevant.

I don't like that Judgement Day got revised from it's original date of August 29th 1997 for completely selfish reasons- August 29th is my Birthday.

I thought it was only 21st April 2011 in the Sarah Connor Chronicles . Cause I swear it was like 2004 on T3.

The date of judgement day has been changed several times. It was in 1997 in T2.
