P67 Future Pricing

Thread Starter
I was just wondering with the pending release of Z68 boards next month, will P67 boards have a significant drop in price since Intel is phasing out the P series? I'm trying to determine whether to hold out until late May for my partial new build (see below).

I'm sure there will be a drop but not a significant drop. If Intel does phase it out quick you probably still looking at them being on the market for quit some time. I personally wouldn't base any decisions of the hope of them dropping. Just get what suits you.

There is really not much of an advantage to Z boards over P boards unless you want to utilize the on-board GPU or do SSD caching (which may or may not come to P boards via driver update)

I'm pretty certain that P67 boards will drop from above 200$ to around the 150$ range, probably also loosing some functionality in the process like dual-LAN or the additional (rubbish) SATA 3 controller.

Yea I'm not planning on getting a Z68 board. Just hoping P67 boards drop

You guys are right though, I can't imagine anything dropping over 20%.

I don't think there will be as much of a price drop, especially compared to when bulldozer comes out for AMD. Z68 is just another product in the same generation. Maybe another bigger price drop when X78 comes out.
