and so I've sent my card for repair! (a one little question)

hi all!

about 2 weeks ago I've bought my 2nd card ever and that was the 6950 twin frozr II from MSI and I've returned my card for being defective, because the card suffer from having artifacts in windows aero! every time I pick my sig rig to the local MSI reseller for a check the artifacts totally disappears, it's like the card is f***ing with me ! later I've discovered that the card suffered a serious issue by not artifacting when the temp is over 40c! funny

anyway I suspect the problem is within the vram! is the vram is irreplaceable?

Nothing is irreplaceable. But you can't do it yourself by any means.

I didn't planed to change it myself but the reseller's warranty says that if they couldn't do anything with any product they'll replace you with a new card!

Unless it's something like a bad fan, more often then not they replace it with a card they refurbished from somebody else's repair and refurb yours it later on to send to somebody else. Costs the company the same amount of money as just fixing yours but it is much faster.

The only time I ever got the same card back was when I had a fan go out on a GPU many years ago.

No more so than if they just repaired your card.

The Two options for RMAs are:
1) You send in a card for a problem, they repair it, send it back to you. You got a refurbished card back, but you had to WAIT for them to repair it.
2) You send them a card, they send you one back that they already repaired from somebody else, no waiting. They repair your card and put it in a big pool of pre-repaired cards (refurbs) to send to the next guy who has the same card fail.

Repair costs the same to the company. You're still getting a repaired card (which officially makes it a refurb), but you get it back MUCH faster than if they repaired your card specifically for you.

All cards whether it's yours being repaired, or somebody else's getting repaired, get tested the same before being sent out. You have just as much likely-hood of failure getting your own card back as if you get somebody else's from a functionality-testing standpoint.

NOTE: This is how many places do it, I don't know for a fact that's how MSI does it though.
