XSPC RX240 kit enough to cool GTX580 also?

Thread Starter
I'm installing my first water cooling system: XSPC Rasa RX240 kit (with compression fittings) in an Antec 1200 case, currently going to cool an AMD Phenom II x6 1090T Black Edition. I don't have it set up yet so I don't have temps, I'm just looking for general suggestions.

I also have an EVGA GTX 580 graphics card and I would like to throw an EK full cover Nickel + Acetal block on it, partially just to go all WC. Would I be able to do this with RX240 kit simply by extending the tubing from the CPU block out to the GPU block? Or would the pump in the RX240 not be strong enough?

Would this be a situation where adding a second 120mm radiator would be necessary? I'm tight on budget right now, so if it's going to cost me, I'm going to end up just putting it off.

Thanks!

You would probably be okay with the 240 but your temps arent going to be as good as i assume you want. I personally would add another 120 or 240 to your loop because then you know your temps will be fine. 360 of rad for cpu and 1 gpu is plenty of cooling and is what i will use for my 1090t and 6970 when i get a 6970 block.

Best of luck man

Well then, I think I'll just wait for a while til I upgrade my case to a Corsair 800D, since right now I really only have room for a 240mm rad on the back of my case and I don't want to mount one anywhere else really. Plus I'm about that far off from getting the 580 waterblock anyways.

Thanks for the advice!

Do you already have the XSPC rasa 240 kit? If you dont just get the 360 when you go to buy it and you'll be golden for cooling. Otherwise you can attach a 120 somewhere in your case that has holes for mounting a 120 fan, but make sure you have space at that fan mount for the rad

Well there isn't room enough for a 360 rad in my case, so I ordered the 240 and it'll be here pretty soon. But the thing is, I won't really be able to WC my graphics card until I get the corsair 800D case because then I'll have room for the 360 rad. Right now I don't have room to mount another 120 rad unless I mod my case a good amount, which isn't a very good idea, seeing as I plan on getting the corsair case anyways.

How often do you move your case or does it stay in one place at all times?
If it doesnt move there is no reason you need to mount the radiator to the case other than looks. If you're willing to you can always lengthen the amount of tubing you need and put the radiator on the desk or floor around your case.

That's true and I gave that some thought. But since I can't buy another radiator and GPU block at the same time right now, I thought I'd be better off leaving it till I have a case better suited for water cooling. I mean the Antec 1200s fans keep the GTX 580 fairly cool anyways, so it's no rush on for me.
