if that's the case maybe the 250ohm is the better route to take. Because if I go with the 600ohm to properly get the best sound out of it i'll have to buy an amp and that would double my budget unless of course that will be the case for the 250ohms as well? GAH!!!!

Read this. Its from Head-Fi.org. It gives a great description of what impedance is and how it works.

Yes, you just have to call their sales phone.

so I did just get back from guitar center lol, came home with the 250ohm DT880s trying to compare both HD555 and DT880s right now.

So far what I noticed is that everything is more clear and crisp with the DT880 and the bass is better on the dt880. Having both volumes set at 50% on the xonar stx, and 100% on itunes the HD555s has trouble keeping up with the DT880 in terms of clarity and bass.

I can only assume that the DT880s will sound significantly better once they are burned in. Guitar Center has a 15 day return policy so I'm gonna try to burn these in and see how they sound after.

Is the 260 dollar price worth it? I'm not quite sure yet, but if I sell the HD555s for 60-70 maybe haha.

Does the MMX300 use the same drivers as the DT880?

I have no idea dude lol I'm a complete noob but I read that you can get 50 dollar 600ohm drivers from the beyerdynamics website and zombie_x from head-fi can do the installation for you, I think that's what I'm gonna do

It won't be the same sound as the headphone casing affects the sound as well.
