Should I get 2 6850's or 1 6950? - Page 3

2 6850's will be faster, 1 6950 will be more consistent.

Also what resolution do you play at? Why not SLI another 768 460? For the 120-140 they cost now, it would easily hold you off until the next generation of cards.

I play at 1080p and really, really enjoy high-res textures so I was wanting something with more VRAM. From what I've heard, even SLIed 768MB 460's can only run textures as high as one since each GPU still only gets 768MB.

yes thats right but you really dont need the 2GB offered by the new 6000 series. The cards wouldnt even be powerfull enough to run a 2GB frame. 1GB is plenty. I would suggest selling your current card for the 6850s or some 460 hawks

6850's are really good for CF, they perform about on par with a 580 when a game takes full advantage of CF. A single 6950 in comparison will be significantly slower.

Also unlocking a 6950 only provides about a 3% boost in performance, and can hamper OC'ing ability. If you are dead set on a 6950, I would suggest getting a 1gb model and saving some money.
