Mod tools are a far superior addition than some microsoft direct x gimmick.I dont know if the sdk exposes the dx11 features of the engine yet.

We all knew the editor was being released in the Summer and the SDK after that. This isn't news really and still doesn't help their first week sales. Also it will take even more time after the SDK is released to create the mods, most people would have moved on or will buy it when it goes on sale at Steam. Also DX11 isn't a gimmick, devs not creating the game with DX11 from the start and patching it in makes it a gimmick.

Devs worry about sales and the PC version were poor because of their methods.

then we could (possibly) mod in more destructable environments & DX11, since the engine fully supports it.
tesselated tiles and cracks HERE I COME

Seems like Crytek is working on textures and AI:

The team working on DX11 aren't the same team working on textures and AI smile.gif

Looks like Crytek actually created more work for themselves by using CE3.
Now they have to go back and add a ton of features for the PC version that should have been there from the start.

You follow them through with your squad. find out where they're headed and help the poor defenseless citizens ambush nazis and suit up. The story unfolds! Fight for the promise land.

It's a unique idea imo, something new and fresh. It'd be really tough to pull off, but I've put a lot of thought into it and I think it could turn out to be something great given the aid of the right group of individuals.

You know, I had totally expected a X-box-vs-Ps3-like-war to break out between the PC elitists and the minecraft fanclub. They seem to be at opposite poles when it comes to gauging video games. One can play with 1998 graphics, only cares about gameplay and constantly promote small, indie devs, not realizing that indie dev success is the exception, not the rule......while the other cares only about cutting edge graphics and what version of DirectX the game is using and wants big mega budget games from devs but doesn't want to pay for it.

Me? I'll settle for some 2006-2009 graphics as long as I can get great gameplay and good length. Sound is another issue most people gloss over. I'm surprised more people in here haven't been praising Crysis 2 for its soundtrack.

Considering the absolutely limited use of Dx 11 in terms of changes made within games that do use Dx11, your response is quite false. The use of Dx 11 at this point has almost all been extremely....underwhelming.

If Crytek actually does something meaningful with it, then it'll be the FIRST GAME to do so.

Another false observation. You mean, if only Crytek went back to their PC roots and made Crysis 2 an expansion pack/copy of Crysis 1 then they'd have more sales? Well if that's the case then why was Crysis 1 pirated so much and had such limited sales? Face it, no matter how much devs cater to the PC crowd, we don't really show them much love in terms of sales.

Gameplay is a must and it's super easy to feel when a game is made on console.
The purest PC FPS games are the Half-Life series.
Their primitive yet superior way of using FPS movement wins against the lot.
Crysis 1 has a really good way of handling FPS movement if it runs at static FPS above 30.
If it runs below it feels as clunky as the console games.

I HATED the menu theme.
It's like someone hit Hans Zimmer in the head and forced him to make that AWFUL "song".

Agreed, agreed, agreed!

The Crysis 2 menu theme song sounds terribly whiny and repetitive, just like the AWFUL SF4 theme.

Because the song sucks, it's not going to make me stop playing Crysis 2. However, it was brought up, and I totally agree.
