120Hz 1080p or 60Hz 1440p - Page 2

I'm playing league of legends on a 120hz 1680x1050 monitor, NOT USING TV 120hz, but actual 120hz vertical refresh rate vsync-ed, game play is great if you can push out 120fps, on league of legends, it's a cpu reliant game so if you have a decent overclock you'll be fine

my acer gd235hz is comming in later this week 1080p, and 120hz, once again, not the same as tv 120hz , if you can wait till friday, i can record a few video's between 120 fps and 60 fps, and show you the real difference of gaming at high refresh

I would like to see some video but will it really show me something if I can't play it at 120 fps?

120hz.

I have both 120hz @ 1080p and the U2711. Gaming on the U2711 is horrible unless you turn on vsync. So if its just for single player games, by all means go for it. Otherwise, 120hz is something you just can't go back from. It's like going black.

I have vsync forced on for all of my games. Why would one not have it on in either case?

If the only reason you're interested in the U2711 is the res, you're probable better off with a 120Hz TN panel.

2560 x 1440 = 3.68 million pixels
2560 x 1600 = 4.09 million pixels

That means that it takes 11% less GPU power to run at max settings.

i have a camera that records at 300 fps

besides, if i record at 60 fps, with both monitors side by side, one at 60fps, and another at 120fps,
the 120fps will seem smoother when recorded on 60fps playback

Looking at reviews for the 2711 says that there is some input lag that might be an issue for me. Is thaygoing to be the issue with that Res or just ips screens?

That is something I would like to see. Looking for large 120hz 1080p monitors now.

or

Some 1920 120Hz ~ $400 (guessing an average)
GTX580x2 - $1000 (if that's overkill I would go for a HydroCopper $700)
Total - $1100 to $1400
LOL!

A GTX 580 for 700$ is like buying a candy bar for a grand.

Get two HD 6950s for 500$ and have almost identical performance to GTX 580 SLi.
