ASRock P67 Extreme4 Freezing [Solved]

Thread Starter
I just threw a new i5-2500K into the Extreme4 board with the stock 1.43beta BIOS and I'm experiencing some weird freezing behavior having to do with my RAM configuration (A-Data DDR3-1600 4x 2GB). The RAM has been Memtested on 2 different Gigabyte boards (not the ASRock) so I know it's all good.

If I have all 4 sticks of RAM installed, the whole system freezes within 5 min, no matter if I'm in the BIOS or in Windows. The only way to get it unfrozen is a hard reset.

I tried with 1 stick, and it seemed to work fine, even under stress testing. So I thought there might be a bad RAM slot and tested each slot individually, as well as each stick individually - all good.

Then I tried 2 sticks, dual channel, still good. It's only when I put all 4 sticks in that it causes a freeze-up.

From there, I decided to update the BIOS to 1.6, and now it won't POST at all - it just gives me a post code 30 on the indicator and hangs.

Is it just me or do I need to RMA this POS?

Got it to POST with just 1 stick - it's a no go with more...

They are rated to run @ 1.5-1.75v, and I had them running on an i5-760 (4.15ghz) at 1.55v.

Right now they are set to 1.59v, but I can try upping it...

The ASRock website only has up to BIOS 1.6.

EDIT: The POST code I was getting refers to a sleep state - could it be instant boot that's causing problems?

EDIT 2: Problem solved: big noob mistake... it was actually the sleep state and instant boot that was the problem - forgot to disable C states...
How embarrassing.
