Hmm was kinda holding out for a budget intel 8 core. Even a multi locked one would kick some. I'd use the cores I do alot of vmware sessions and real cores are more useful to me. Maybe if the price is right and the lack of extra pin is confirmed il just get a bulldozer to tie me over. Then go for ivy bridge es at end of 2012...

I am kinda in the same boat. I saw the 980x at MC for $799 today and the 990x for $999. Almost pulled the trigger, and decided to sleep on it first... do some reading up on sandy/ivy. I would however use all 12 threads in rendering/video composite. Plus you can get 24g Ripjaws for $300 and oc all day.
