Yeah, R700's age gap is larger, but the architecture is still largely based on R600, just like AMD's current GPUs.

wait, the HD 6000s are not exactly a fresh architecture? and is the Fermi arch completely ground up or from the 8800s?

I just hope they have something big as far as innovation, because MS & Sony have already surpassed their motion controls. They cant get complacent & the wii craze is already over.
Actually they've put out lower tech than competitors for one generation. Pretty hard to make the argument that's SOP. The Gamecube's hardware was more powerful than PS2's.

Also, that one time they did put out weaker hardware...I seem to remember that working out pretty well for them.

Of course I wish they'd cram $600 worth of hardware in a box, I want the best graphics possible for the system, and I can afford it. I just wish everyone else could.

its really hard to say for gamecube since the PS2 was using RISC and GC was using PPC.
It was clocked higher but with consoles, unlike PC, RISC is a good thing as far as performance/clock. the xbox was clearly faster than both though.
& the n64 was behind ps1 and saturn.
The GameBoy was behind the GameGear,
GameBoy Color was behind the Neo Geo Pocket Color,
the GBA/DS was behind the PSP,
the 3DS will be behind the PSP2.

& if this is only marginally faster than the PS3/360; it will defiantly be significantly slower than the PS4/360-2(720 whatever)

Its not just another 4 years for the PS4, its how long it will take for the developers to max the potential of the setup.

I'm excited for this. I only play Zelda and Mario on wii basicly so graphics dont matter. If I want good graphics I have a gaming PC sitting at my desk. I'll definately buy this once the insanity that is console releasing ends and I can buy one without the risk of death. Nintendo is the only company that makes a console worth buying for me.

It works.

They'll get current titles for PC/PS3/360 until the Sony and MS release their new systems(2-3 years away,) and be able to release new Nintendo exclusive titles, +retain sales of Wii titles because of backwards compatibility. They won't need to sell their hardware at a loss like the other platforms, so they'll be able to make a profit in that timeframe I'm sure.
If you people don't recall, the Wii has sold more units than Sony or MS. It was released in '06 and unlike the 360 or PS3, they can afford to release a new platform every 5-6 years.

"Being the first" has incredible impact on sales. With this move, Nintendo will become a bit more than current, give people a decent pricetag, earn the big cross-platform titles like CoD and Battlefield, and stay that way long enough to turn massive profit.

This!! Plus imagine what the developers could do with this system if they tried. It literally could have double the power of the PS3 or 360, depending on which version of the R700 they use.

they did it first with GameCube + GBA, right? Otherwise, Sony already has the answer. NGP + PS3. PSP can hook up with PS3 Console as controller.

or

.6.2-inch display which is highly like tablet controller. 6 inches is almost tablet sized! look at SamTabhas 7inch display..

But i am concerning that, each controller will be cost $80-150 as PSP or DSi.

I wonder why they take this obscure route to Console hardware??? For instance why don't they use modified PC hardware-ish stuff like intel processors which are obviously perfectly capable of playing games and desktop PC graphics power? Why a power PC processor and an obscure line of ATI graphics power?

And Nintendo did, and probably still will, outsell all those products. We are a small minority that critique the hardware and graphical differences so much that we would choose one over another for those reasons alone. The other 95% just pick the one that has the games they like and/or is the cheaper system.

I personally don't and haven't owned any console since the N64, but I do play on others systems. I don't play much, but when I did, Nintendo games got more play time than any of the other systems by a long shot. They know what they are doing. I wish they would pack better hardware in there, sure. But for the price and gameplay/replay value of Nintendo games, it is no wonder they outsell the competition.
