No I hadn't. I installed the video card driver and then restarted to see if it was the driver causing problems.. but I'll insert my mobo disc and install the drivers on it before I restart this time

Nope. Install the stuff from the motherboard's CD and then install the 266.58 like before. In that order. Of course, reboot after installing the stuff from the CD that comes with your motherboard.

Do I need to install the intel matrix storage, marvell storage, and raid floppy disk drivers, or just the mobo drivers?

Sorry.. first time personally installing mobo drivers.

Edit: Nevermind.. Just installing the motherboard drivers.

Disable the Marvell controller in the BIOS because it's likely that you are not using it because you have a SATA 2 [3 Gb/sec] drive (the Vertex 2) and so I imagine that you have the Vertex 2 connected to one of the ICH10R SATA ports (one of the black ports).

As for Intel Matrix Storage: no. It's actually very old and outdated. Install the newer version which has been renamed to Intel Rapid Storage Technology from here:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...&DwnldID=19607

As for the "raid floppy disk driver": no, unless you are in the middle of trying to set up a RAID configuration.

However, it's interesting that this is your first time doing this which tells me that everything was absolutely fine until you connected the Vertex 2 to the system.

Yea, it's connected to one of the black SATA ports

& NCIX installed and configured this system.

Oh, they call it "SATA 3.0 Storage Controller" in Integrated Peripherals > Onboard PATA/SATA Device. Disable that.

This won't really fix any problems, but it's nice to disable things you're not using.

I just tried installing the 266.58 nvidia drivers, and the setup says that the drivers aren't compatible with this version of Windows.. I'm gonna re download the drivers and try again.

Edit: I also just disabled the Sata 3 controller in Bios.

and the nvidia drivers still aren't compatible with my version of windows..

Are you downloading the 32-bit version of 266.58?

Download the 64-bit version because you have the 64-bit version of Windows 7:
