Yes, you are in denial and you should either get yourself a Sandybridge or get help!
  • 51% (126)
No, you're perfectly happy with your C2Q@4GHz and have a well balanced system!

I moved from a Q9450 to a 2600K and the only reason i made the move was because my DDR2 ram died and i didn't feel like paying for overpriced DDR2 which was dead anyway.

You could easily ride out your Q9650 until the end of this year which would give you fantastic upgrade oppurtunities at that time!

Okey, Most of the votes was for 'No, you're perfectly happy with your C2Q@4GHz and have a well balanced system!'

This is really how I feel too. I just wondered if I was in some kind of denial and not seeing things clearly.

However, as an enthusiast, and yes that I am (I have SSD's and a well balanced system), I like for new things to play with once in a while. But seeing as it is now, it is probably better to wait and see what the next year has to offer me. Even if I can afford going Sandybridge right now.

Another thing with Sandybridges, they are almost too easy overclocking. Taking away the finetuning and tinkering that I as an enthusiast love so much. So will probably be a short-lived fun to play with.

I only fear that I suddenly can have a change of heart and order Sandybridge. I've been very close a few times already

only thing I feel bad about is that you probably overpaid for your Q9650 while I got my CPU/Motherboard for 100 bucks new.

I would only upgrade if u can rip a noob off with ur system by selling it for huge profit so you could buy Sandy Bridge at cost. Otherwise keep the processor and keep upgrading the video card.

Overpaid? I bought it back in the spring 2009 and got a good price

i'd love to have a q9000 those Fers overclocked put out almost as much as an i7 in gflops. Even then i'm happy with my q6700.

Ignorance is bliss, so yes and no. I'd like to keep my Q9450 till Broadwell if possible, even if it means my desktop is just a backup to my laptop since that is the way it is working right now with my current gaming habits.

when i went from a Q6600 @3.6 to my 2500K which I usually run @ 4.2 it made a big difference in any games I had that were laggy on the Q6600 like GTA4 and just cause 2. FPS in those games almost doubled but most games dont use nearly as much CPU power as those two. It really depends on the game. If you want to run all the games with all the bells and whistles then u should upgrade but if you are ok with missing out on just a few bells a whistles on ust a few games for now then dont upgrade.

Your GPU could definitely benefit from a faster CPU, your GPU is stronger than your CPU ATM.

I suspect my Q9650 at 4.2GHz and 6GB DDR2 RAM@1168MHz 6-5-6-15 will help me alot VS your old Q6600@3.6GHz though.... Q6600 is about equal or a little slower then a Q9400 with 6MB L2 Cache clock for clock.
