its a non-K series so u cant overclock since ur not going to anyways.

dont spend money on the 775 sockets their pretty much dead.

thats pretty much the best thing u can get for $300 (most people spend more then that on a gpu)

that kind of mainstream games are we talking about? the onboard intel HD 2000 should play games like starcraft 2 just fine. with medium specs.

u can throw that graphics card for better gaming experience. i was going into a build for someone with similar things but with out a graphics card and the budget was around $300.
I agree with this

The socket 775 would produce alot better framerates than an i3 with onboard graphics.

At least the 775 system has a 9800GT.

Id go for that offer too - I don't really think that you are able to find anything that can match that with a budget of $300

You're still missing a PSU and CD/DVD drive. It's insanely hard to build something with 300$.

*edit* without going used that is

The rig will be temporary until he can get his $1000 back to get better hardware.

He doesn't NEED a gaming PC right now. Spend the $300 on core parts (not a lot of RAM, integrated graphics, etc).

When he gets more money back, get a gaming GPU and more RAM.

Try this on for size. Motherboard is one I am using. Works great and unlocks with one button. Unlock the chip to an Athlon X2 and you are golden. Will run everything at decent details. The 5770 is great card (I have two, one could play BC2 @ 1080p max without HBAO easy). 2GB ram, 320gb hdd, cheapo case + psu though. No DVD, you can lend him one or just use usb to install. I would. I unlocked this very same CPU and motherboard for my work PC. Easy.
