Want to give rep to Microsoft Windows 7 team.

I have had my little HP DV4 laptop for 1 year and 4 months. It came with Windows 7 Home 64bit on it. I got a free windows 7 32bit ultimate key as part of a class. I have Pro on all my other rigs so I figured i would throw it on the laptop and get around some of the networking problems I had had using home on business and professional networks.

I was worried since the disk it distributed with the key was for Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit that I would not be able to upgrade it to the 64bit version with out problems. I decided to try the automatic path Microsoft has given us with the anytime upgrade application. Went to the application and selected enter existing key. I simply turned the little software bag and disk over, and typed in the group of keys. It accepted the key and started an upgrade with out giving much more explanation. Restarted twice and came back up to Windows 7 Ultimate. Checked and sure enough i'm running Windows 7 ultimate 64bit. Yay! I did not even have to pop open the ROM drive. Wonderful.

Around the internet's we hear a lot of horror stories about upgrading windows and such and this worked as well as i would have hoped it would. Thanks Team.

I don't quite understand your problem, your worried about the upgrade? If you need 64 bit, get a 64 bit iso since your 32bit key will work. As for the upgrade part just install twice. Windows will refuse to activate if you do a clean install, and put in an upgrade key.

Thanks I had no problems getting the laptop upgraded. I was commenting that it worked flawless and I did not need additional iso or disks. Thanks though.
