4870x2 vs 5870 futureproofing

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I'm building a new gaming computer. I have the choice between these two cards:

Gigabyte 4870x2 for $140
Sapphire Vapor X OC 5870 for $200

Any advice? I'm mostly worried about future games that will require DX11 as I plan to eventually Crossfire the 4870x2 with a 4870. Thanks in advance

EDIT: I'm also trying to save money. I might be able to convince my friend to sell the 4870x2 for $100.

I'd go with the 5870 if those are your only two choices. It has DX11 and is a much newer architecture.

Neither, a single HD 6950 (even 1 GB version) would be a better buy than either, and the price isn't too far off.

Yea just get the 5870 for extra $60.
TD had visiontek 4870 x2 refurb (actually brand new oem) for $99, but they're all sold out.
If you already have ati 4870 1gb, then getting a 4870 x2 is a good option, but make sure you have good source of PSU.

6870 anyone? Maybe it's more expensive I don't know. But especially as you're looking for DX11 gaming hardware, 6970.

Otherwise, out of those two the 5870.
