c300 2.5in I'm confused

Thread Starter
After looking at this and opening this it is a 2.5" drive. Is this right? I thought that was for laptops.

I'm not even sure how to install this thing now if it is right.....

2.5 inch HDDs are becoming more popular especially in SSDs. I would not doubt your PC has a smaller 2.5 inch drive. It does not change anything they install and connect up just the same way as far as I know.

You need a converter for a bay drive or sometimes you can mount it to the back of your motherboard tray or some places in your case..we need to see your system specs to know what you are working with.

Oh yeah, almost every solid state drive uses the 2.5" form factor. I have two in my sig rig (notice that my case is the Cooler Master 690, which is just a regular mid tower case).

Fortunately, SSDs usually come with a mounting adapter that makes it possible to install into a 3.5" HDD bay. Although if the drive you want does not come with one, then you can mount it anywhere you want. You can even use tape or Velcro (seriously).

NOTE: Hard Disk Drives are not the same as Solid State Drives. In other words, HDDs are not the same as SSDs. So let's not categorize SSDs as "HDDs".

Why is that confusing?

You can either install it anywhere you want or get a drive adapter.
It simply gives you more flexibility to put it in a laptop at some point.

The drive does not require a full 3.5" bay as there are no rotating platters to accommodate.

HAF X has a built in SSD mounting bay, it is the top bay, you will see it has a built in adapter for mounting 2.5 inch devices.
