Why do I keep getting a CPU Overtemp shut down?

Thread Starter
Since my last thread got little to no attention I'll shorten this one a bit.
1. Voltage is 1.26 in bios 1.272 load in CPU-Z
2. Few days ago I was loading in P95 at 74-79c
3. Recently started going passed 95c a little bit into testing
4. Same exact temps on 100% fan speed (case fans and cpu fan)
5. Taking off the side panel also gives the same temps
6. Tried re-applying TIM and remounting heatsink (pea sized blob in middle ya ya.)
7. Tried clearing CMOS, did nothing as far as temps go.
8. Every other thing in my case remained the same temperature as it always was
9. Ambient is around 18c now

And when I put my hand behind the exhaust fan (rear and top), its barely warm. If that matters. Any ideas?

Try re-apply again but put a tiny rice grain of TIM. Then the heatsink and tight as the bracket/screws allow. Make sure the fan is fully powered up and seated onto the heatsink correctly with the air as intake so it blows through the heatgrills. I bet your fan is extracting rather than intaking.

Those temps are too high. I think you need to check the installation of your cooler. AS5 would also work wonders!

Better TIM will not decrease his temperatures by 30c to solve the issue.

Make sure that you fan is plugged in and nothing is blocking airflow to the CPU like wires.

Heatsink is as tight as it'll go, I checked, double checked, and triple checked. The fan is also blowing down. Re-applying did absolutely nothing. And none of this really explains me going from 79c one minute, then to 95c after a reboot. I use Shin-Etsu 7783D (I think that's what its called).

It's possible this is a problem, but it will not the 30c difference we need to get rid of.

Try taking the CPU cooler off and reapplying it properly, maybe you forgot somethign while installing it which is causing for your high temperatures. Just a suguestion.

And maybe your cpu could be deffective or something, who knows.

This is strange. What are you using to read the temp?
