Best Sound Card - Page 2

Stay with the Essence, its a very good card and you will be fine. Amp wise, my Ad900 works fine on onboard, I can't wait to get my build back up and running and be back on my Essence.

forgot to mention but wanting an upgrade over the STX you'll have to look at external DAC's at which point you'll be paying retail price of an STX for an external, prices vary though so you could be looking at something really expensive to something more affordable, but i dont believe its worth it when you already have a great card.

Waste of a sound card by doing that.

As everyone else is saying it's the Essence STX for multimedia purpose. There are other better ones, but they are purpose built and easily cost over $500.

The Audigy 4 Pro still has one of the best DACs around. At the time you would have to get a ~$1000 receiver to match it. Now if it was modded with better opamps and caps it would sound amazing.
