Corsair HX650 vs HX520/620 (noise)

Thread Starter
Hi,

As I can't find much (relevant) information on the HX650, can anyone shed some light on its acoustic characteristics? I.e., is it louder or quieter than the HX520/620 series?

Thanks.

The HX-650 is just an improved version of the HX-620 and based on the same Seasonic S12/M12 platform so it should have a very similar noise characteristics. I know that my HX-620 that I have in my backup rig is very quiet even under a fair amount of load.

Seriously though you could be nicer considering you weren't clear at all that you only want user feed back and the guy was just trying to help. He spent his time finding those links answering your question as throughly as possible and then you were incredibly rude.

I'm sorry if I sounded rude but posting that chart didn't help me at all. Everyone knows Corsair's noise charts are not accurate.

I have both, and they are pretty much the same. If there is any difference, I dont think anyone can notice. (I think they dont come with the same cables).

I take silence very seriously and if you dont want to spend more to by a PSU from the AX line then go for the HX650/HX620/HX520. If you want more information there is a very good review on SPCR.

They do get hot but I have my HX620 for 2 years now with no problems.

I don't mean to come off as defensive here, but they are accurate. We test from industry standard 1 meter away, at very specific angles in a laboratory environment.

However, you're right in that they don't necessarily affect your environment. Every chassis is different, with different resonance issues, and every desk situation can either amplify or reduce audible noise levels.

But it's not like we just make the noise graphs up.

Never base you by serie and yes by model.

e.g. ironically AX1200 is made by CWT and it is loud. While AX750 and AX850, even being AX Series, are quiet and they are made by Seasonic.

Actually the AX1200 is manufactured for us by a vendor named Flextronics, not CWT, and it's not very loud until you get over about 600-700W, and by that point your GPUs will likely drown it out. smile.gif
