From the ones I've worked with, they were all Intel configs. with Intel Pentium Dual-Cores. With HP you're only safe with AMD configs or the XPS/Studio. As of now I've only repaired one with the nForce issue and the issue was a dead Hard Drive. They weren't very popular ever since the issue was brought to light by the media.
I've never owned a Pentium Dual core but looking at HP with AMD-Turion processors everyone seemed to have an overheating issue but the Toshiba I replaced had a Turion tl-62 which was also overheating.

What were the issues the Pentium's had?

All had dead motherboards 6 months-1 year after purchase. And this is not a coincidence: I had more than 20 people give me HP laptops with the same problems. And yes, the Turions did have an overheating issue, though it didn't cause failure most of the time. I haven't had a dead one because of nForce 630... yet. As you said, they do run notoriously hot.

I seem to hear a lot about the heat issues of previous generations of OEM from yester year. I had an hp dv6000 model in 2008 and sold to my aunt's friend. It stills function and it was an AMD based platform. True it was a lap burner, but most laptops were back in the 2007-2009 days. My Toshiba Satellite A series from 2007 falls in the category too. Most companies didn't really focus on heat and other issues until the aluminum MacBook Pro came out with Leopard and it started stealing significant high end market share from large OEM's.

In fact my 2009 13" MBP was the first laptop that I owned that didn't burn my jewels when I actually used it daily. Like most laptops I sold it when I felt that a newer model was coming out with better specs. Plus I realized I booted into Windows more than OSX, and i also found it silly to hold down 6+4 to boot into 64 bit mode.

I would like to hear from people that actually own a Clevo or Sager NB what their impressions are. Do they suffer from heat issues since their chassis are mainly plastic? Have they had to send items back for defective parts?

Ok, after doing some research I am glad I did not purchase a Sager laptop. Did you know that they have a F grading from the LA BBB? They also have terrible reviews with an average of 5 of 10.

I think I will stick with HP

Consumers are MUCH more likely to report on problems than on success. Fact.
The fact that you're considering an HP consumer notebook makes you a moron, sorry. Like I said, they make up for more than half the laptops I repair, with the main bad component being the motherboard and Hard Drive.

But whatever. Good luck.

I think with any laptop you need to A)Make sure its vents are clear so that it can properly cool itself and B)Realize that a hdd is a sensitive moving part and that if you jerk it around or move the laptop a lot while it is on, it will get damaged. As for the BBB and Sager, they don't handle RMAs directly or customer service. Them just distribute them to e-tailers. So don't judge them by that.

Wow a pretty shocking statement considering that you have not given me any facts. As a consumer the BBB is your advocate for when a company does not meet the terms of their contractual obligations.

I asked for facts or opinions of people that have owned these products that you placed on a pedestal, you haven't provided any. You also stated that you don't the own product you are recommending, which shows that you really haven't voted for them either. So I showed what people have said from their experiences on sites that are creditable about Sager. I am always leery of multiple websites using the same creatives and forms with slight variations in CSS styling which typically means that they are shells of the same company.

I will give you credit that you did recommend Xotic PC and they do have a better rating on Resellers Rating.

Next time instead of name calling why don't you just state your opinion and move on. Not every one is going to value your opinion on products that you haven't backed with your cold hard cash or use daily.

Yeah no failure there , just the 83 degrees after 15 minutes and shut down after 30 minutes thing.

I already have provided you with plenty of facts. I linked you to a study made on thousands of computers regarding reliability. Look a page back and you'll see it. Most reliable brands are ASUS, Apple and Toshiba. The least reliable manufacturer in both the study I linked which covered laptops for 2010 and the one that predicted failure rates in the time frame of three years have HP as the least reliable manufacturer.

Look at HP for Home: http://www.pcworld.com/article/21140...e_laptops.html

I'm not gonna recommend a consumer HP to ANYONE until they solve this.
