Hi im a newer member been lurking for the past 4 months i really need help with building a gaming rig that i will be folding on in august when i get home from afghanistan(deployed) My stepfather was originally going to buy me a 1500 alienware computer but with the little experience and reading ive been doing here for the ast couple of months i realized i could have something way better for the price. this is what ive got so far.I wanted to X-fire 2 hd6970 for eyefinitysetup with 3 moniters.

GSKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 74.99
I7 2600k + Sapphire 6970 $624.99
Sapphire 6970 $324.99
RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX 79.99 15MIR
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit $99
COOLER MASTER V8 RR-UV8-XBU1-GP 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler $59.99
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500g $39.99
MSI P67A-GD65 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX MOBO $140

It comes out to about 1430 after MIR
I saw the cooler and RAm one bay for half price i might go with that

OK

Get rid of the i7 and go with the i5 2500k for gaming

Don't use any raidmax PSU, rock it with a Corsair TX750

Get rid of that cooler, go with the CM 212 Hyper

Get rid of the Hard drive and go with the samsung F3 500Gb, it's quicker

Stick with a single 6970 for the moment and see if you need a second one in a month, then get a second one if you feel the need to. But in all honesty that GPU will max out any game at 1080p with no problems, that is unless you have the 3 monitors already, in which case stick with 2.

well i was going to get them eventualy, but its the kind of thing where my SF is going to buy it all at once if i wait ill have to buy it, i already have a POJ Dell but upgraded to a hd5570, and a 23" 1080p moniter only to realize it got bottlenecked by the crappyP4 CPU. Like you said i was going to replace the PSU with a Corsair but i didnt know what wattage i should get because of the crossfire.

In which case, stick with a single GPU at the moment and wait until you get your extra screens.

Can you link me your memory, I need to see what ones they are, I need to know the timings

Is this rig just fr gaming? If so a 2500k will be fine, lol if it was me I would buy the 2600k just so I can say I have an i7 lol.

However buying an i7 purely for gaming is completely pointless. Trust me, I know, lol

Comps

EDIT - That just links me a list of memory, not your memory.
