Need help choosing 1366 cpu block

Thread Starter
Hello Experts.

I'm installing a new loop for my i7-930. I figure that with the 2nd gen i7s out, I might as well make full use of the 930 and get it to a healthy 4.0-4.2.

This is my first WC build.

My question is which CPU block should I get?

What I would like is something that is known to be effective, requiring little or no prep work such as polishing.

Hopefully one of the three available through newegg: Enzotech SCW, Enzotech LUNA, Swiftech APOGEE.

So which of these three is best? Price is not really a factor.

Also, looking at the Wikipedia page for LGA2011 - it says that cooling solutions will be backwards compatible with LGA1336. If I could use this CPU block a year from now on a 2011 build, that would be great. Is there any merit to this?

If price isn't a factor then the only way to roll is the EK Supreme HF, I personally went with the nickel model but they have clear and whole copper blocks.
EK Supreme HF > Koolance 370 > XSPC Rasa would probably be my order. I got myself a full copper EK block and I love it. Keeps my 4.2 at 65c average cant complain and it does a great job folding 24/7. Since price isn't an issue I would recommend the EK.

Thanks for your help guys. I said that price was not a factor because all of the blocks on newegg, at the time, were $70 and under.

According to this handy roundup:
http://www.overclock.net/water-cooli...d-roundup.html

(Does this roundup give a good indication of quality? i,e; is delta T the only parameter to consider performance-wise?)

The best block is the EK Supreme Full Nickel, but it goes for 75EUR from the manufacturer, which would be ~ $115 with shipping. This is too much.

Tied for second is the Swiftech Apogee XT (~$70), has anyone tried this one?

The apogee XT is very restrictive and there are better blocks. Go with the XSPC Rasa, it performs within less than 1C of the Supreme HF and only costs around $50.
The XSPC Rasa is your best bet.
rasa is the best block for the price and its only about 0.5 to 2c behide the best ek block.

Apogee may be restrictive, but it has the best/easiest out of-of-the-box mounting system...and the temp dif between Rasa/XT/EK is only a degree C or so. I think there's a kit to make the EK blocks as easy to mount as the Swiffy blocks, but it is anouther $10 on top of a $80 block.

Apogee XT rev 2 is no more restrictive and it does have a very nice mounting system. Rasa is much cheaper and has similar performance though.
