MSI gtx 560 ti Twin Frozr III Hawk is here

My new 560 hawk arrived in the mail today. It is one nice looking card. Right off that bat this card is a beast for overclocking. Despite me getting a not so good card with a default vid of 1062mv.

Some background on this card:

Comes with a core clock of 950mhz, and memory clock of 2100(4200)mhz. Has voltage control with a max of 1150mv. This design does have heatsinks on the vram and the power components(vrms).

Some basic overclocking had some interesting results. First off the memory on this card is horrible for overclocking. I tried bumping it up 100mhz and it artifacted 3dmark11 horribly. So the max stable memory oc I was able to acheive was 50mhz for a total of 2150(4300)mhz.

Core clock is a different story all together. Keep in mind, the card I received is not a golden example. Im sure a card with a lower vid could do alot better.

First attempt I bumped the core up to 1ghz with 1100mv and ran 3dmark11 and acheived a score of p4867.

My final and max stable core overclock was 1060mhz at 1150mv with a score of p5138.

I will say this, the card looks great, but I am dissapointed in the fans. They switched from the frozr II fans (which were typhoon shaped) to airplane propellor shaped fans. These new fans are louder than the older twin frozr II fans. I really feel that msi has dropped the ball this one. They took an otherwise PERFECT card and made it loud. Now you can always make a custom fan profile to fix this, but if your overclocking that may not work as you need the extra air movement.

edit: more pics to come. 3dmark11 scores, and pics of the card itself.

Ordering mine after I wake up, really excited.

Even if it is more noisy it should still be better than any of the other 560's with air cooling. We get a big OC past reference while it maintains significantly cooler temps than others. At least that's what the situation appears to be, and the TF3 should be cooler than the TFII as well, even with the higher speeds.

Just finished a Portal 2 Marathon and I'm so tired my face hurts. Beat the game start to finish in 1 sitting. but now I'm too excited about the card to sleep.

just to let you know, my 570 twin frozr II runs cooler than the 560. my 560 spiked at 77c under load, and my 570 spikes at 73c under load. go figure.

Im really that dissapointed with the fans. Im sending mine back to newegg. I wish msi put heatsinks on the vrm for ALL there cards. tf3<tf2. keep in mind im comparing a 560 to a 570. the 560 should run cooler no questions asked. The 570 was clocked at 900mhz core when i took the temp reading. and the 560 was at 1050 core.

well even for it not being a golden card still manage a 1000+mhz stable clock which is very nice.. not surpised by the memory maxing at 4300mhz which to me personally is almost right on the money for personal preferences, the temp tho i think the voltage of 1150mV be purpose on why the temp is higher compared to the 570 specially if the 570 is using lesser mV to obtain a stable 900 clock.

both cards are oc'd and only 4c difference isn't exactly a worrisome thing specially since it's still in avg tempetures for the 560 which is a good thing.

yea, maybe. but the 560 was hitting 77 on stock voltage and clocks. i dont know, i was expecting alot more with this new cooler. Im going to put the card back in my rig and do some more testing before i send it back. If i send it back to the egg i have to a 15% restocking fee.

for comparison purposes here is a 3dmark11 shot of my 570 at 935mhz core.

and here is both my 570's in sli at 925mhz core with 1088mv.
wish i had a second 560 id run comparisons in sli =/
