Crysis 2 Bench messed up my Crysis 2

post #1 of 11
Thread Starter
The beta Crysis 2 benchmark must have messed up the config files because now everytime I run the game (without the benchmark running) the game goes into a benchmark loop.

I uninstalled and am reinstalling now. What a waste of my time..

This was to be expected from a poorly coded console port.

Seriously though, you didn't need to uninstall the whole game. Just delete the autoexec.cfg file.

Did you try reverifying before you downloaded it again? Sometimes that will fix it.

This benchmark corrupted my game also. Even when I've uninstalled it and trying to run the game, the only thing that was running was this benchmark tool, I have to uninstall game, and install it again, this corrupted my savegames, and i was forced to begin the game from the beginning o.O So anyway, I've ended this game 2 times in a row haha

Thats why i waited until i finished the game, I just completed the game yesterday, i thought it was excellent btw. Anyways I wanted to ask what are your thoughts about the actual benchmark tool? I wanted to use the tool on the driver reviews that I done. So my question is does it work well other than the issue posted here?

Thanks

@jam3s

Do you run the Steam version?

There´s seems like there´s still issues with the Steam version.

I run the non-Steam version, no issue with the "autoexec.cfg".

@sp4wners

In what way did it corrupt your savegames?

@munaim1

Well, there seem to some mega glitches/flickering when use multiple graphic cards, single card is just fine though, it´s the same for AMD and Nvidia.

Right now it seems like the Downtown timedemo is the one to use.

With 5870 Crossfire, 1920x1080 FSAAx4, Downtown

Benchmark tool, avg 86,52 (the runs are pretty tight)

Benchmark tool run with fraps counting, avg 89,15 (benchmark tool 86,52)

In game (same route as benchmark tool, fraps counting) avg 89,75

Min fps is very low with benchmark tool, fraps is much higher, might be in the start or in the end that the benchmark tool read those low fps, don´t know how much it reflects on the final score.

Make sure you manually update the Games For Windows Live client before trying to run GTA IV. If its a Steam copy, that's all you need to do. If its retail, you also have to run the latest patch (1.07) for GTA IV.

I'll bet on it, that's why GTA IV wasn't loading for you. GFWL Client needed updated.
