Is my voltage safe? Vdroop?

Thread Starter
Hi, I am just wondering if I am damaging my chip or if it is not worth it running at this voltage on my cpu. http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1781320

On my Bios I have the vcore set to 1.51v for it to run stable at 250x16. On CPUZ it has shown as high as 1.53, and while im testing, it has dropped as low as 1.47v (is this the vdroop)? Are these normal, or should I back down my overclock? Sorry if this is confusing, I'm drunk, but info is correct. My temps are 25c idle, 45c stress load. I am running a 1090T B.E.

Thanks.

You're perfectly fine there, nothing to worry about.

Have you tried lowering your voltage?

Yes the voltage drop under load is vdroop, look for a LLC option in your bios to adjust it if you wish.

Edit:

Woah, drop the multi on your HT Link though, keep it as close to 2000 as possible.

Also you never mentioned your NB and its key to a good Phenom II overclock.

Your fine. I am correct to assume that PhII are fine to 1.6v?

No 1.55v is the max for air, 1.6v water (assumed since nobody really knows).

Why would u have him lower his ht if he is stable. A higher ht will improve memory bandwidth.......so if ur stable i would leave it right where it is.

Also ur voltage is fine. I run mine at 1.55 24/7

Yes that is called vdroop. Like said above u can use the llc function to level it out.

I'm guessing ur nb is 2500. If this is the case see if u can bump it up to at least 2800 if not 3000.

Good luck!

lol HT is the link between cores and its been shown to have almost no performance gain since 2000Mhz is fast enough.

It has nothing to do with memory bandwidth, thats the nb.

He also never said he was stable, so I would lower it before even attempting to do a prime blend session or fold on it.

Oh geez. Here we go. When I get my lazy butt outta bed I will show u the difference ht speed makes on memory band width.

dude 1.5V is very high for 4GHz try lower the vlotage to 1.37V or less.
my 1090T chip is OCed to 4GHz @ 1.36V.
also your HT is @ 2500MHz thats not good, always make sure that HT is @ 2000MHz.
also try to push your CPU/NB to 2800 or 3000MHz you will see a performance boost.
good luck

I understand my voltage is high for 4.0ghz but everything else was crashing while prime95. I was having trouble reaching 4.0 and got help on a different post. This set up is stable now. The reason my HT and NB is at 2500 is because I raised the CPU Bus to do the overclock and that raises the NB/HT and Memory Speed all at once. I have read that the NB and HT have to be the same speed to be stable. Is this wrong?

Yes, the rule is that HT link must be equal to or less then the NB speed. Increasing the HT link past 2000MHz has been shown to decrease performance.
