6950 1gig and 2gig cf?

hey ocn,
I was wondering what would happen if I cf-ed a 1 gig and 2 gig card. Would my total vram drop to 1 gig or will it stay with 2 gigs?

Yep I think it does work, but drops to the 1GB card's capacity.

Unless you're right up on the limit of VRAM with that 1GB you won't notice though, and it's unlikely you will be hitting a VRAM limit of 1GB with nearly all games.

The difference in price is minimum. If you can afford a second 6950, I would say just grab the 2gb card so you can get their full potential.

Yep, it drops clocks and video memory to the lowest common settings. It does this on all setups, ATI/AMD and Nvidia too, and it does it so that the xfire/sli data on the bridge doesn't get corrupted and the frames can remain in synch between cards.
Go get a second 2GB card, a 1GB card just won't really cut it in eyefinity on 1080p displays.
