that's essentially a 8800 GTX you're borrowing, not that much better.

Get a GTX 460 at the least, it will run BC2 with no problem.

Not much, an 8800GT is basically a 65nm(?) GTS 250.

Aim for a 6850 or a 460 for a decent upgrade (when you get the money, of course.)

You're right, it's not the same but the difference between GTS 250 & 8800GT isn't as striking as it once was, especially if we're talking about gaming in an HD resolution.

Personally I think your GPU is the problem. I can play BC2 on a mixture of medium and high settings @ 1920x1200 resolution and I get playable frame rates no matter what the size of the map. You'll note that my CPU is significantly worse than yours but my GPU allows me to get a pretty good experience out of the game. If you can't come up with the cash for a video card upgrade it's really not a big deal... to fully take advantage of the video card upgrade you would want a monitor with a higher resolution anyway.

Here's my recommendation. It comes to $125 after rebate. It's a pretty standard upper-mid range card right now, DX11, etc. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121390

well i gained around 15 FPS but i think it's because my 8800 was half-dead. so its not a huge amount but it makes the game playable on high. and thats all i want.

In relative performance, they are very close. The GTS250 is more than enough to run most games, and will do so at your resolution no problem, however BC2 happens to be a game that uses alot of resources.

You could try a few things to help improve your situation. I for one believe that your system should be able to run that game just fine on low settings in an 8 man server.

What drivers are you running? Seems like noone has mentioned it yet, but BC2 had some problems early on do to drivers, I know for a fact with ATI, not sure with nvidia. Never the less, it wouldnt hurt to install the latest and greatest to rule it out.

Another thing you could check is your BC2 configuration file. Go to Documents>BFBC2>Settings Open in notepad.

Make sure "HBAO" and "Bloom" are both set to "false". Also make sure that your "Dx version" is set to "9" Double check that V-sync is off as well. Save the file and exit, and give it a shot.

When you install the drivers I recommend using Driver Sweeper, to clean out any previous installations.

What I do is uninstall the current Nvidia drivers and open msconfig in the start menu search bar by typing msconfig. Under the boot tab, I select the "Safe Boot" mode and restart my pc.
Once it has restarted you will run Driver Sweeper (previously installed) and clean out the Nvidia install directory. Go back into msconfig and untick Safe boot, and restart again. Install your new Nvidia drivers and Voila.

I agree, that is a good deal. However the OP has made it quite clear he has no money to spend and isn't going to be buying anything.

@OP, another addition to my previous post, if your board has the ability to unlock cores, you may want to give that a shot. Another possible free solution to your problem.
