CRT vs IPS? +some questions

Thread Starter
So apparently the Sony FW900 is king? and CRT is over 9000 times better than IPS?

also, a coupe questions:
1920 x 1080p vs 2560 x 1440p?
will blu-ray (1080p) look pixelated/bad on 1440p?
Does games in 1440p look pixelated because the textures aren't high res enough?
does 1080p stuff on 1440p look good? or is it pixelated?
CRT vs IPS picture quality?
are there any good 1080p CRT's?
does the U2311H have any screen tearing/lag?
does the U2711 have any screen tearing/lag?

Current choices (23 to 27 inches):
Dell U2311H
Dell U2711
good CRT's?

Stuff to take note:
Don't recommend me 16:10 stuff because of black bars and not being able to see more horizontally.

(I have learn't quite a bit from my last monitor thread so please don't come under the impression that I'm trolling.)

1440p wins hands down. No question

Does games in 1440p look pixelated because the textures aren't high res enough?

You will be able to see the imperfections in the textures more easily on 1440p, but the game itself will look much better

does 1080p stuff on 1440p look good? or is it pixelated?

On LCD monitors, 1080p on 1440p looks like the same as 1600x900 would look on your 1080p monitor

CRT vs IPS picture quality?

CRT wins in colors, LCD in resolution on some displays

LCD loses on ghosting (0 ghosting on CRT) and refresh rate and input lag

Where can I buy a FW900?

Ebay and similar sites/things

are there any other good CRT's?

Yeah but in 4:3

Though I have heard of a 16:9 brother of the FW900, but I'm not sure. FW900 would be better in any case

does the FW900 have any screen tearing/lag

The higher the refresh rate in game, the less chance of screen tearing.

Lag is nonexistent on CRT monitors

does the U2711 have any screen tearing/lag?
does the U2410 have any screen tearing/lag?
does the ZR24W have any screen tearing/lag?

Some visible screen tearing, lag is the same as any LCD monitor, in the 10ms-30ms range.

Current choices (23 to 27 inches):
Dell U2311
Dell U2711
Sony FW900

Sony Fw900

Stuff to take note:
Don't recommend me 16:10 stuff because of black bars and not being able to see more horizontally.

Sorry but the sony FW900 and the dell U2410 and the ZR24W are all 16:10

Although I am pretty indifferent about these two aspect ratios, it's not really a huge deal to have 16:10. Both do fine.

On the FW900, black bars annoy you less since they are completely black instead of the backlight illuminated black on LCD monitors.

My thoughts in bolded

Added comment: Don't buy a worn down FW900 though. There's always the chance of buying a FW900 but noticing that it has some issues. Make sure that it does not when you buy it.

My FW900 died several months ago it was an amazing CRT, I had it for 6 years.

Going from a high end CRT to an LCD can be a bit jarring at first especially when your used to smooth motion clarity and deep black levels.
Back to Intel.

Don't be fooled - if you're looking for the best gaming/multimedia experience, the U2711 can't compare to the FW900. I've got a U3011 and I'd STILL take an FW900 over it if I could.

Most issues are simply due to miscalibration - something that is virtually unavoidable (but easily correctable once you've got it). In reality there are only a small number of things to worry about.
