I need a new HSF!

Thread Starter
I was just playing Bad Company 2 for the first time in a while and my fps started dropping dramatically as I played for around half an hour.
Checking up the temperatures my i5 760 (Stock Intel HSF) was @ 62C
GTX 460 (No OC) was on 64C

Now I'm not so worried about the video card but the cpu is bugging me a bit.
I need to find a cheap but effective HSF, could I get some suggestions?
Preferably off this site.
Around $70~ I'm willing to spend.

Thank you

Looks good, also everytime I apply thermal paste I'm always making a bit of a mess near the cpu socket, it will be fine if there's a little on the edge right?

I like to apply a little cross, so that there is no risk of getting air bubbles. No problem with that but be warned: if you apply to much thermal paste it has the opposite effect!

I apply just enough to cover the whole cpu without any gaps.
and scrape the excess.

62c is perfectly acceptable for a i5 By the way, not too much to worry about.

I agree with the recommendation for the hyper 212+. You may be within safe limits for the proc. but at the same time if you ever decide to OC your chip, or just get sick of the stock coolers louder noise, you're covered with a very nice budget cooler that will effectively be much quieter.

But you spread it before fitting the cooler? Because I think that is not the best way. You should put a biton the center and the pressure of the heatsink against the cpu will spread it
