Are you saying that DX9 users (who are refusing to buy new hardware/software to play DX11) should feel cheated because they don't get the features that enthusiasts pay lots of money for? I lol'd.

Also, DX11 will probably only be used for water, cloth, crowd, and AO. All DX9 users would really miss is (possibly) some ground tesselation. I know from Dirt 2 that performance will die in DX11 compared to DX9 (unless Codemasters actually optimize which I doubt), so DX9'ers will get a good looking game with good perf and DX11'ers will get a great looking game with good performance.

Everyone moans about consoles holding gaming back, so when a developer does do something that pushes the boundary... they get complained at too?

No winning with you folks is there...

No kidding.

*Straight console port released*
/PC gamers complain about console port

*Special attention given to the PC port*
/PC gamers complain about console port

*Game developed on PC then ported to console*
/PC gamers complain about console port

While i will never purchase a PS3 or Xbox, some of you PC gamers need to just shut up.

Exactly, heck Dirt 2 looks great on consoles... but fully cranked on pc and it looks gorgeous and with an e8400,6 gb of ram and a 5770 at 1680 you can run it on high to ultra high without an issue.
Either way I can't wait for dirt3.

im saying that if you make a game too difficult to run on most systems, then you aren't doing the majority of PC gamers a favor, esp these days when they have school to pay for or a family to feed and computers and video games are unnecessary luxuries.

does not apply to this case here but if we had someone doing what crytek did 4 years ago then it wouldn't be good for a lot of people.

no one is moaning except OCN and other places that where i7 set ups, 580 or 6870, and 6 - 12 gb RAM set ups are common and have nothing else better to do than play video games all day.

http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

5.6% steam users are running DX 11.

Well, tough luck to those people. If devs want to make a game than only 5% of the market can play, then good on them for having the guts and corporate back to do it.

Mediocrity is a horrible place to be.
