I actually haven't used it enough to notice. I can test it for you though. You shouldn't have that problem with USB obviously, but if you're contemplating going with eSATA again I'd be happy to test it out for you considering we have the same mobos.

I'd be curious to see if yours did like mine. I'll probably most likely go with USB 3.0 though. It's faster than eSATA anyways, isn't it?

I've had my eSATA going for a while and I haven't noticed it dropping out. Anyway, USB 3.0 is theoretically faster I think, but as of right new eSATA is still faster. http://www.crunchgear.com/2010/02/05...ast-right-now/

Thanks for the info! I still might just go with USB 3.0 though, eSATA scares me after all the trouble I went through with it before.

Yeah. I don't blame you. USB is a little more convenient too.

I'm going to bump this one more time before I decide to buy anything. Right now it's between these two external enclosures:

Rosewill RX358

AZiO E377-U31

They are both USB 3.0 and they are both capable of supporting drives up to 3TB. I like the fact that the Rosewill has a recommendation for an OCN member, but I like the appearance of the AZiO and the fact that it has a stand. I don't want to buy something just because I like it's styling though and find out it's a piece of crap. If anyone has tried the AZiO or one very similar to it, I'm very interested to hear your opinion of it.

I'm surprised the Rosewill one doesn't have a stand. My raygo one looks exactly the same and it came with one. Oh well...

So I got the AZiO enclosure and Samsung F4 2TB in. The enclosure's build quality seems kind of crappy. The screwless design seems to be more of a PITA then a help. The HDD has to be jammed in, not 'slide' in like they say. I'm most likely going to swap it for the Rosewill. This is a dumb question, but I shouldn't have to reformat the drive to switch it to a different enclosure right? I was going to start backing stuff up to it while I wait on a new enclosure.

Here is HDTune results of the F4 over USB 3.0, not bad at all.

Shouldn't have to. Once you format the drive in windows it should work as long as it has a sata and power connection. Sorry about the Azio enclosure. It did look nice. Hopefully the Rosewill enclosure will work out better for you.

That's what I thought, I was just thinking maybe whatever controller is in the enclosure that converts the SATA to a USB might not get recognized when I try to drop the drive in a new enclosure, but I guess that doesn't have anything to do with formatting. I never noticed any drivers install when I hooked the enclosure up though, it just seemed to be plug, format, play.

I just ordered the Rosewill. When it gets here, I'll see if I like it better (which I most likely will) and return the one I don't like to newegg.
